KoreLogic's password cracking contest challenges teams to recover as many plaintexts as possible and to publish their tools and techniques.

Where: DEF CON 34 - Las Vegas, NV, USA, and over the Internet.
When: 11 AM LV Time Friday, Aug 7th to 11 AM Sunday, Aug 9th.
Who: Anyone can play. Teams will do best.

"The contest will start at 11 AM Las Vegas time on Friday, August 7th, and run for 48 hours until 11 AM LV time on Sunday. We will have a table in DEF CON 34's Contest area, although most participation will be online.
Pre-registration will be available soon.
Test hashes will be published before the start of the contest, so teams can test their submission process.
Encrypted contest files will likely be published for pre-download, with passphrases published at contest-start.
Additional files, hints, or challenge material may be released during the contest. Updates will be posted on this site and @CrackMeIfYouCan.

DEF CON feels mad hostile these days, man. I went back in the early 2000s, and it was actually pretty solid back then. Now it’s mostly corporate BS dressed up as hacking, with tons of wannabe devs who don’t really have much to do with hacking or cracking.
